About the golden poison dart frog

The golden poison dart frog is considered one of the most toxic amphibians on Earth. Growing to around 5–6 centimetres, it can be bright yellow, green or orange. In the wild, its skin contains powerful toxins derived from its diet of ants and other small insects.

Despite its name, this frog is shy and spends much of its time on the forest floor among leaf litter.

Conservation

The species is classified as Endangered, as deforestation and habitat fragmentation in Colombia continue to threaten its already limited range.
