About the Guinea turaco

The Guinea turaco is a vibrant green forest bird native to West Africa, including Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. It inhabits lowland and secondary forest, where it moves through the canopy feeding primarily on fruit.

Its bright red crest and white facial markings make it unmistakable among African forest birds.

Conservation

The species is classified as Least Concern, though deforestation and hunting in West Africa affect some local populations.
