About the Oriental white stork

The Oriental white stork is a large and elegant wading bird with a white body, black wing tips, and red facial skin. It inhabits wetlands, river floodplains, and coastal marshes, feeding on fish, amphibians, and invertebrates.

Pairs form strong bonds and defend breeding territories during nesting season.

Conservation

This species is classified as Endangered, with wetland loss, disturbance, and collision with power infrastructure in China, Russia, Korea, and Japan contributing to its small global population.
