About the red-fronted parakeet

The red-fronted parakeet is native to New Zealand, where it inhabits forest, scrub, and coastal woodland. It is recognised by its green body, red forehead, and blue tail feathers.

It feeds on buds, seeds, and fruit, and may gather in small flocks outside the breeding season.

Conservation

The species is classified as Near Threatened, with introduced predators and habitat change in New Zealand affecting wild populations.
