About the crowned treefrog

The crowned treefrog is a large, arboreal amphibian growing to around 12–15 centimetres in length. It is found in tropical forests, where it lives among trees and bromeliads. Its loose skin folds and muted grey-brown colouring provide camouflage against bark and foliage.

An insectivore, this species hunts small invertebrates at night. During breeding, individuals may gather around water sources, but outside this period they are typically solitary.

Conservation

The species is listed as Least Concern, although forest loss across Mexico and Central America may affect some local populations.
