About the white-faced whistling duck

The white-faced whistling duck is easily recognised by its bold white face contrasted against a grey-brown body. It is named for its clear, whistling calls and typically gathers in flocks around wetlands.

An omnivore, it feeds on seeds, aquatic plants, and small invertebrates in marshes, lakes, and flooded grasslands.

Conservation

This species is classified as Least Concern, although wetland degradation and hunting in parts of Africa can affect local populations.
