Animal Feeding Times
Join our keepers for daily feeding times at Paignton Zoo
Animal feeding times are a brilliant way to learn more about the animals at Paignton Zoo and see some of their natural behaviours up close. You may even be able to ask the keepers any burning questions you have about the animals!
Because our keeper-led sessions change regularly, feeding times are not published online in advance.
The latest schedule will be displayed on the information boards near the zoo entrance when you arrive. We recommend taking a quick photo of the board on your phone so you can refer back to it as you explore the zoo.

Why Do Feeding Times Change?
Paignton Zoo is home to hundreds of animals, each with their own individual routines, diets and care requirements.
Our keepers plan every day around the needs of the animals. This may include preparing specialist diets, cleaning habitats, carrying out training sessions, monitoring behaviour, completing health checks or supporting new animal introductions.
As a result, the timing and availability of public feeding sessions may change depending on what is happening behind the scenes.
Weather conditions, animal behaviour, veterinary care, habitat maintenance and staff availability can also affect the daily programme. A session may occasionally need to be moved, changed or cancelled at short notice.
This flexible approach allows our keepers to put the animals first while still sharing their knowledge and experience with visitors whenever possible.

Meet the People Who Care for Our Animals
Our keeper talks offer an opportunity to hear directly from the people who know our animals best.
Keepers may talk about an animal’s personality, diet, natural habitat, behaviour or daily care. They may also explain how modern zoos contribute to conservation, breeding programmes, research and education.
The exact content of each session will vary depending on the animals, the keeper and what is happening on the day. This means that even regular visitors may hear a different story or discover something new each time they attend, or the keepers may not have much time to chat.
Whenever time allows, there may also be an opportunity to ask the keepers questions at the end of the session.
